Why the Tracking Cube matters
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a condition that can affect a child's development due to alcohol exposure during pregnancy. Many children with FASD are not identified or diagnosed early.
The Tracking Cube helps services identify concerns early and connect children with support sooner. Early support can improve health, developmental and social outcomes.
Using the Tracking Cube
Community-based providers can use the Tracking Cube to track children's development and respond to concerns early. This is particularly important in regional and remote communities, where access to specialist assessment can be limited.
When specialist advice is needed, the Tracking Cube helps services share information and coordinate support. It:
- identifies neurodevelopmental concerns early
- supports ongoing monitoring and follow-up
- improves coordination between services
- connects children and families with specialist support when needed.
Collaborating across sectors
The Tracking Cube supports a coordinated approach across a range of systems, including:
- early learning
- education
- child safety
- youth justice
- health services.
Supporting reform
This project supports the prevention and early intervention priorities of Achieving balance: The Queensland Alcohol and Other Drugs Plan.
This includes improving awareness of FASD and increasing access to support across communities and service systems.
