What is Every life

Every life is the Queensland Government’s 10 year plan for suicide prevention.

It aims to reduce suicide and its impacts across the state through coordinated action across government, communities and services.

The phases of Every life

Every life is being delivered in phases:

Phase Two builds on the actions and achievements of phase one. It also reflects feedback from people with lived-living experience of suicide, organisations and communities across Queensland.

Why reducing suicide and its impacts matters

Suicide is complex, with no one cause or solution. It affects people, families, workplaces and communities across Queensland. The impacts are far reaching.

  • 781 Queenslanders died by suspected suicide in 2025
  • Men are 3 times more likely than women to die by suicide in Queensland
  • Queensland’s suicide rate is approximately 18% higher than the national rate
  • Every death by suicide affects about 135 people in Australia
  • The suicide rate among First Nations people is almost 3 times higher than non-Indigenous Australians

Action areas
